1. Who we are
Memeclip operates the website at memeclip.app and the Memeclip iOS application (together, the “Service”). For privacy requests, contact [email protected]. Before commercial launch, the operator’s full legal name and postal address should be published here where required by applicable law.
2. Information we collect
Google account information
When you choose “Continue with Google,” we request only the openid, profile, and email scopes. Google may provide a stable account identifier, display name, given name, profile picture, email address, and email-verification status. We use this information to create and secure your Memeclip account, link the iOS app, and prefill your profile. Your email is stored privately and is never displayed in public profiles, creator rankings, clips, or public API responses.
Profile, subscription, and community activity
We store your chosen nickname and avatar, uploaded clips and their metadata, tags, likes, creator rank, reports, moderation history, and messages you send through the feedback form. To provide paid access we may store the subscription product, status, expiration, and Apple original transaction identifier. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
Technical information
Our infrastructure may process IP address, browser or device type, request time, requested URL, security events, and similar server-log information. Essential signed session cookies keep website users logged in. The website also stores your reels sound preference locally and uses session storage to avoid counting the same view repeatedly during one session. The iOS app sends a random installation identifier and a random project identifier when you create a project so we can maintain an aggregate project count; the server stores a one-way hash of the installation identifier and does not receive the project name, timeline, media, or exported video for this count. Feedback sent from the app includes the message and app version.
Data stored on your iPhone
Projects and imported media normally remain on your device until you export or upload them. Account-link tokens are stored in Apple Keychain. Sound bookmarks, the random installation identifier, and editor preferences are stored locally. Uploading a clip sends the selected video and supplied metadata to Memeclip.
3. Why we use information
We process information to authenticate users, provide editing and community features, host and transcode uploads, display public creator profiles, calculate likes and ranks, investigate reports, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain security, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations. Depending on your location, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, consent where requested, and compliance with law.
4. Google user data
Google user data is used only for account authentication, account linking, security, and the user-facing profile features described above. We do not sell Google user data, use it for targeted advertising, transfer it to data brokers, or use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. We disclose it only to infrastructure providers acting for us, when you direct us to, or when required for security or legal compliance.
5. Public information and upload review
Every new upload starts private and is available only to its creator. It enters the public review queue only when the creator asks to make it public; until approval, neither the clip nor its media URL is available in the public catalog. The creator can follow its moderation status, hide an approved clip, or delete the upload. Nicknames, avatars, approved uploads, clip metadata, likes, and creator ranks are public. Reports, feedback, review notes, and pending or private uploads are visible only to their creator and authorized moderators.
6. Service providers and disclosures
We may use hosting and database providers, Cloudflare for delivery and security, Google for sign-in, Apple for iOS platform services, and Epidemic Sound for music discovery and streaming. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies or as processors acting for us. We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect users and the Service, investigate abuse, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the Service.
7. Retention
We retain account and community data while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service. You can permanently delete active account data immediately from Profile settings. Security logs and transient backups may persist for their normal limited retention period where technically necessary or legally required, but deleted account data is not restored to the active Service. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer reasonably required.
8. Your choices and rights
You can change your public nickname and avatar from your profile, unlink the iOS app locally, or permanently delete your account and associated server data without a waiting period from Profile settings. Full public instructions are available at User Data Deletion. If you cannot sign in, you may request deletion from the account email by contacting [email protected]; we verify identity to prevent unauthorized deletion. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also request access, correction, export, restriction, or objection and complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and select providers offering relevant contractual and security protections.
10. Security
We use measures such as HTTPS, restricted administration access, hashed administrator passwords and API tokens, signed sessions, private secret storage, upload validation, and content moderation. No service can guarantee absolute security; please report suspected compromise promptly.
11. Children
Memeclip is not directed to children under 16, and they may not create an account or upload content. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced through the Service or by another reasonable method, and the date above will be updated. Questions and privacy requests: [email protected].
